On July 22 from 5 to 7 pm, the ROC at 3700 Monterey Drive is hosting a clothing swap event that invites community members to trade their gently used clothing for something new-to-them. Everyone is welcome to this free event, which emphasizes the joy of finding pre-loved treasures over the acquisition of brand-new apparel. Attendees can bring up to five boxes of clothes and shoes, but they should leave linens, blankets, and undergarments at home. They're all about the clothes and shoes at this swap meet.
To get the best selection, organizers suggest bringing items between 5 – 6 pm. There's no limit set on the pieces you can take home with you, a detail aimed to encourage attendees to refresh their wardrobes sustainably. Leftover items will not go to waste as the event's end will see them being either reused or recycled. The ROC is looking to make the most out of everything that's brought in, ensuring minimal waste and maximum utility.
Questions regarding the event can be directed to the St. Louis Park Recycling Coordinator. The team can be reached at 952.924.2562 or by email at [email protected] for clarification. Moreover, interested individuals can also visit the waste reduction and reuse webpage for more details on acceptable items and additional information.
The City of St. Louis Park is advocating for sustainability and responsible consumption with this event. It's an opportunity for locals to declutter their wardrobes, to find joy in sharing fashion, and to partake in a communal experience that both saves money and reduces waste. This initiative aims not only to provide a second life to clothing but also to foster a sense of community through mutual exchange. Everyone walks away not just with a new outfit, potentially, but with the satisfaction of participating in a movement that promotes conscious consumerism and environmental mindfulness.
