This public service announcement posted on Facebook suggests citizens take a proactive approach to storm preparation by offering free sandbags prior to any immediate threat.

According to the Facebook post, on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the St. Petersburg Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, located at 1744 9th Ave. N, will serve as the distribution center for the sandbags. Each household in the city is eligible to receive up to 10 sandbags per visit. Residents planning to partake in the giveaway are reminded to bring a form of identification as proof of residency in St. Pete. according to the department's official Facebook page.

Beyond the scheduled Saturday distribution, the city makes it known that sandbags are not merely a seasonal offering. They are available year-round, Monday to Friday, and on each second Saturday of the month between the same times, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
