Chaos on Inglewood Road led to an arrest this past Saturday, tying a local man to a recent homicide. According to a social media post from the Statesville Police Department, at approximately 7:30 p.m., their Traffic Unit caught a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Inglewood Road and Grove Road. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver, rather than complying, initiated a chase that took law enforcement on an off-road pursuit through residential backyards.
The brief chase concluded when the suspect abandoned the vehicle and made a run for it, leading officers on foot before he was eventually detained. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Austin Ty'Kim "Kimbe" Morrison from Statesville. Morrison reportedly had active warrants for Murder in connection with a homicide that occurred on June 14 on Deaton Street, tragically taking the life of Timmy Jaurice Moore.
Morrison is now being held at the Iredell County Detention Center, facing a no bond status on the Murder charge, according to the Statesville Police Department's post. Additional charges arising from the event include Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Resist, Obstruct, and Delay an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, and multiple traffic violations.
This ongoing investigation still seeks more information, and local authorities are urging anyone with further details to step forward. The Statesville Police Department can be reached at 704-878-3406 for those looking to contribute to the case.
