Honolulu's weather will stay steady in the coming days due to a high pressure ridge north of the islands. Breezy trade winds are expected today and tomorrow, easing slightly on Friday before increasing again next week. According to the National Weather Service, "Weather wise very stable conditions persist for most of the week, with a slight increase in clouds and showers for windward mountain areas on Friday and Saturday."
A change in the trade wind pattern is expected on Friday as weather systems move in, raising the temperature inversion from 5,000 to 7,000 feet. This will lead to "slightly increasing passing rainfall activity into the scattered to numerous range," mainly over windward and mountain areas. Aviation conditions remain stable, but turbulence is possible near mountains. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until Thursday evening for some waters around Maui and the Big Island due to strong trade winds, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Surf conditions will vary across the islands this week. South-facing shores will see steady surf from a south-southeast swell, with another swell from the Tasman Sea arriving by the weekend. Eastern shores will remain rough and choppy, with a slight increase in surf midweek and over the weekend due to a short-period northeast swell. North-facing shores will be mostly calm, with surf decreasing to near flat by the weekend. Trade winds will stay moderate to locally breezy. Fire weather concerns continue, but some showers are possible from Friday into Saturday before drier weather returns on Sunday, as stated by the National Weather Service.
