Last week, in a residential area near Peace Way and Grand Canyon Drive, a statue was reported stolen. The artwork, which depicts two young boys reaching upward on a ladder, was purchased a decade ago by Holocaust survivor Stephen Nasser. According to Nasser, the statue held personal significance, symbolizing his late brother who died during the Holocaust.
In an unexpected turn of events, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) managed to quickly locate and return the stolen statue to its rightful owner. An off-duty officer was the first to spot the stolen statue, initiating the steps that led to its recovery. In addition to returning the statue, officers took further measures to ensure it is now securely anchored in place to help prevent future thefts.
The LVMPD’s Facebook post highlights the moment the statue was returned: "STOLEN STATUE RECOVERED!" The photos shared alongside the announcement depict the community's effort to correct the situation. While details about the ongoing investigation remain limited, the LVMPD’s commitment to resolving the case appears strong. The department also noted, "Our officers even purchased items for Mr. Nasser to help secure the statue moving forward."
The circumstances surrounding the theft remain under investigation. The statue was recovered and returned following actions by local authorities. Efforts to identify those responsible are ongoing.
