
The Metropolitan Police Department has reportedly apprehended a suspect linked to multiple burglary incidents at construction sites in the Southwest area of the city. As detailed in a press release by the Metropolitan Police Department, the string of burglaries began over the weekend of June 20, with the most recent incident resulting in an arrest on Independence Day.
A construction site was first targeted on June 20, around 4:00 PM, with the burglar engaging in forced entry and theft until Monday morning. The crimes then culminated last Friday when at around 1:25 PM, the alleged burglar was caught in the act at a site on the 1000 block of 3rd Street, Southwest. The swift response by officers led to the suspect's arrest as he attempted to depart the location with the stolen goods.
The accused, identified as 49-year-old Gregory Greene of Southeast, DC, now faces charges including two counts of Burglary Two. These charges pertain to the episodes of property theft from the construction areas as specified in the case numbers CCN: 25093877 and CCN: 25100432. Authorities detained Greene while trying to leave the scene with the acquired property.
