
Metropolitan Police Department have taken a suspect into custody linked to the recent fatal shooting on 4th Street in Southeast. The incident, occurring in the early hours of June 27, left 29-year-old Deandre Lewis dead from a gunshot wound.
Police responded to a call at approximately 1:54 a.m. on the 4200 block of 4th Street, Southeast to find Lewis inside an apartment. Despite efforts by the DC Fire and EMS, Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police Department reports. The decedent was identified as a resident of Northeast, DC.
In the days following the crime, investigations led to the apprehension of 47-year-old Maurice Gaskins from Arlington, VA who was arrested on Monday, charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. The police discovered that Gaskins was known to the victim.
