The Metropolitan Police Department has apprehended a suspect following an incident in Northeast Washington, D.C. where gunfire erupted during a dispute. The event took place on June 25 and resulted in zero injuries, despite shots fired. According to the official Metropolitan Police Department release, the suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Juwan Russell from Southwest, D.C.
Investigations into the altercation revealed that on the afternoon of June 25, around 4:39 p.m., Russell discharged a weapon at another man amidst a heated argument. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of 16th Street, Northeast. After the suspect fired the weapon, he fled the location, leaving an unsettling silence hanging where gunshots had once punctuated the air.
It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that Russell would be taken into custody. His arrest came about as a result of diligent investigative work by MPD detectives. On Friday, the suspect was finally located, apprehended, and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
Russell is currently facing serious legal repercussions for his actions on that June day. The charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon holds weighty consequences within the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia.
