A sergeant from Constable Mark Herman's Office was involved in a physical altercation with a suspected shoplifter outside a Target on the North Freeway, the authorities reported. The incident occurred yesterday, when the sergeant, responding to a call from store loss prevention personnel, encountered the suspect in the store's parking lot. Attempts to apprehend the individual, later identified as Chance Davis, resulted in violence.
According to Constable Mark Herman's Office, Davis resisted arrest and attacked the sergeant, "including applying pressure to his throat during the struggle." In response to the escalating confrontation, the sergeant deployed his Taser. Assistance from additional deputies helped to safely detain Davis.
"Chance Davis was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Assault on a Peace Officer. His bond was set at $10,000.00 out of the 337th District Court," Constable Mark Herman stated, as per a Precinct 4 Facebook post. The office’s social media update included a link to download their mobile app, “C4 NOW,” which provides live feeds on local crime, arrests, safety tips, and traffic accidents.
