A swift response from local transit authorities and law enforcement led to the apprehension of a suspect following a violent incident in the Lloyd District. Jordan T. Christ, 30, has been charged with second-degree assault and is currently held at the Multnomah County Detention Center, following an altercation that left one person fighting for their life in the hospital.
The assault, which took place earlier this week, involved an unexpected and forceful punch to the victim's head. According to details provided by the Portland Police Bureau, there is no indication that Christ and the victim had known each other before the attack. The incident, which did not involve weapons, has culminated in critical, life-threatening injuries for the victim, who remains in critical care.
Key to capturing the suspect was the collaboration between TriMet staff and the police, with a TriMet security team providing a swift and detailed description of the suspect following the assault. This vital communication enabled what ended up being a quick arrest, as Christ was found by a TriMet supervisor just a block away from where the assault occurred on Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Pacific Street.
