
A harrowing incident unfolded yesterday when Petaluma Police engaged in a pursuit of a suspected DUI driver, which ended in a tragic fatal collision. According to the official report from the Petaluma Police Department, the incident began at approximately 10:10 PM on Lakeville Highway at a gas station after officers received a tip about a possible impaired driver.
The officers located the vehicle and attempted to pull over the driver upon witnessing it swerving into oncoming traffic. The situation escalated when the driver refused to stop, leading to a police chase with the suspect's vehicle crashing and rolling over near Old Lakeville Rd #1. Despite the immediate response of the pursuing officers to aid the occupants, a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver, alongside two other passengers, suffered significant injuries and were transported to area trauma centers.
