A shooting in the Southeast Side of San Antonio has left a man and a woman dead, following what authorities have described as a deadly confrontation stemming from a love triangle. According to News 4 San Antonio, the incident occurred late Sunday night in the parking lot of an H-E-B Plus located off South New Braunfels Street.
The San Antonio Police Department has identified the suspect as 49-year-old Lorenzo Aleman, who allegedly engaged in an altercation with the two victims, leading to the fatal shooting. The victims, a 41-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. "Investigators said an argument broke out between the three individuals, escalating into gunfire," a sequence of events that unfolded just before 11 p.m., as per News 4 San Antonio.
Aleman, whom police claim fled the scene in a white SUV, has so far eluded capture. Urging the public to aid in their investigation, authorities are working to release a full description of Aleman and have called for anyone with information to come forward. The relationship between Aleman and the female victim was particularly fraught, as they were reportedly married, and jealousy is believed to be at the root of the tragic outcome.
Additional details from KSAT indicated that the suspect, Lorenzo Aleman, was connected to the double murder through witness identification, following a photo lineup after his arrest. "At some point, Aleman shot and killed the pair" during what appeared to be a scheduled meeting. Witnesses at the scene provided pivotal information that facilitated the apprehension of Aleman, a breakthrough in the case announced during a police conference the following Monday morning.
