Last Saturday morning, a reported roadway altercation escalated quickly on northbound Interstate 5 near 188th. According to the Washington State Patrol, a driver aboard a red Tesla is alleged to have fired at a silver Chevrolet Traverse in an incident that could have turned fatal. The distressing encounter began when the Tesla, driving at high speeds, came up behind the Chevrolet. As the Chevrolet driver shifted lanes to let the Tesla pass, the electric car followed suit.
"The Tesla then pulled up next to the Chevrolet and was reported to have fired one round from a semiautomatic handgun at the Chevrolet," as stated in a press release from the WSP. Fortunately, neither the vehicle nor its occupants were hit by the round, and no injuries were reported from the scene.
The Washington State Patrol has yet to pinpoint the motive behind the shooting, and details remain scant as they continue their inquiry. Detectives are scouring through evidence and are in the process of collecting dashcam footage that might have captured the episode. They appeal to the public, requesting that anyone with information or relevant dashcam videos from the time of the altercation to come forward.
