In what turned into a physical confrontation, two suspected shoplifters were apprehended after allegedly attacking a deputy at a Walmart in Harris County. The incident, which occurred yesterday at the store located at 26270 Northwest Freeway, escalated quickly once authorities arrived on the scene.
Deputy Newisar from Constable Mark Herman's Office was responding to the call, but the interaction went south when the suspects, identified as Gabrella Toler and Stevionna Franklin, chose to violently resist arrest. According to the official statement by the Constable's Office, Franklin managed to kick a deputy in the groin during the altercation, causing pain and adding an assault charge to her slate of accusations.
Toler, as was uncovered during the subsequent investigation, was already wanted on multiple counts—two warrants through the Hempstead Police Department for Assault and two additional warrants through the Waller County Sheriff's Office for Assault on a Peace Officer and Harassment of a Public Servant. These open warrants were factored into her new charges after she was taken into custody.
"They were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Gabrella Toler was charged for Resisting Arrest and her open warrants. Her bond for the new charge was set at $100.00 out of County Court 10. Stevionna Franklin was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer. Her bond was set at $5,000.00 out of the 488th District Court," stated Constable Mark Herman, as reported by the Constable's Office.
