The Metro Nashville Police Department is in the midst of an investigation concerning a death initially deemed suspicious, now being treated as a suspected suicide. According to a report from WKRN, a female body was discovered Friday morning at an apartment complex, prompting a response from local authorities.
Officials were called to the scene at approximately 11:22 a.m., where a maintenance worker found the near-naked body of a 27-year-old woman, confirmed by the MNPD spokesperson. The woman, a resident of the complex located in the 1400 block of Lebanon Pike, was found adorned in only undergarments. A lieutenant from the Homicide Unit at MNPD indicated to WKRN that there were "suspicious marks" on her body, though her identity remains undisclosed at this time.
In a separate account, WSMV noted the time of the discovery to be in the early afternoon, with the police report indicating the deceased as being a woman in her mid-20s. The body was found at City Side Flats by a roofer, clarifying the time of the grim find to be around 12:40 p.m.
As the investigation unfolds, officials are withholding the final classification of the death until after results from an autopsy and toxicology testing become available. Meanwhile, a report by NewsChannel5 added that the body was found on the sidewalk directly below her apartment, suggesting a fall from height. This piece of information could be pivotal, as the MNPD continues to unravel the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. Detectives are proceeding with a sensitive examination of facts, while the community awaits closure on the matter.
