A teenager's leisure turned life-threatening after a boating incident while tubing on Cherry Creek Reservoir this past Sunday, as reported by local authorities. According to 9News, the youth was struck by a vessel in the waters, prompting an emergency response around 6 p.m. on the northeast side of the popular park.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials confirmed that, despite the calamity, the teenager remained conscious and capable of breathing when medical teams arrived. The severity of the injuries necessitated immediate hospitalization. The teen, out on the reservoir with family and friends, met with a grim accident as the boat's propeller made contact, as detailed by KDVR. How this encounter happened, however, still remains obscured by uncertainty, according to officials.
The incident was severe enough to warrant life-saving measures at the scene itself. Park rangers, trained for such exigencies, applied tourniquets to both of his legs to stem the hemorrhaging, a necessary action before paramedics could transition him to more comprehensive care at a medical facility, reported The Denver Post.
