A pool party at an East Harris County apartment complex turned tragic last night when gunfire erupted, leaving one teenager dead and two others seriously injured. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, as reported by Click2Houston, the incident occurred just before midnight at The Henry at Liberty Hills apartments on Liberty River Drive near Crosby Freeway off Highway 90.
Investigators believe that approximately 25-30 teenagers were in attendance at the pool party, which may have been unsupervised. Amidst the revelry, multiple shooters reportedly fired into the crowd for still unspecified reasons, leaving one unidentified teen boy dead at the scene. A 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were transported to the hospital, with one undergoing surgery. Major McConnell of the Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office has urged the public to "please give us a call" if they have any information, as stated in an interview with Click2Houston.
Six individuals were detained by the authorities as potential witnesses to help piece together the narrative of the night’s events. However, the search for the perpetrators is ongoing, according to KHOU. As of the latest updates, the sheriff's office has been actively reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to collect evidence and track down those responsible for the shooting.
Further details on the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is looking to quickly identify and apprehend those involved. "We’re going to need the help of the public," McConnell told Click2Houston in his plea for community cooperation.
