An incident unfolded on Dixie Drive in Clute, where a 15-year-old boy shot three of his landscaping coworkers, killing two, during their lunch break on Monday. A Click2Houston report detailed that the Clute Police Department received reports of the shooting at 1:18 p.m. and found the victims with gunshot wounds shortly after. A man from Houston was declared dead on the scene, while the other two were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. One of the hospitalised victims succumbed to their injuries, while the other is expected to survive.
Witnesses provided descriptions of the teenager, which led to a swift arrest by 1:29 p.m. near Plantation Drive. An ABC13 article stated that is believed the teen was experiencing a medical episode. Another crew member narrowly escaped by fleeing when the 15-year-old reportedly pursued them while firing shots. The fourth employee was unharmed.
The Houston-based landscaping company employed all individuals involved, and Clute authorities have indicated no known connections between the crew and Brazoria County. The adolescent suspect, following treatment for his condition, has been transferred from CHI St. Luke’s Hospital to the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center to face multiple felony charges.
Both the motive and the mental state of the young suspect remain under investigation. Authorities suggested the possibility of some sort of mental breakdown but have yet to disclose specifics. The names and exact ages of the adult victims are still withheld, pending further procedures.
