
In a sobering incident in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood, a teenage girl was subjected to gun violence last night. After a 10-round ShotSpotter alert, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10 p.m., as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh. On arrival, they encountered a 16-year-old girl wounded by gunfire.
Near the 100 block of Zara Street, just blocks away from where the shots were detected, the young girl was discovered with a gunshot injury to her left arm, according to information obtained by WPXI. In stable condition, medics rushed her to the hospital, where she currently remains.
The investigation was promptly initiated, with the Mobile Crime Unit arriving at the scene to process the evidence. Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit, which continues to lead the meticulous probe into the circumstances, are now heading the inquiry around the harrowing event. Officers were able to find multiple shell casings scattered in the area of East Amanda Avenue and Rochelle Street.
While no suspects have been identified at this time, and the motive behind this shooting remains uncovered, law enforcement is working tirelessly to piece together the events of that fateful night.
