As catastrophic flooding sweeps through the Texas Hill Country, members from various emergency services have mobilized to aid in the ongoing search and rescue operations. According to a social media post by Parker County Emergency Services District 1, Texas Task Forces 1 and 2 were deployed in several locations, particularly noting Kerrville, and have been conducting rescues since the first rains hit.
With over 175 personnel engaged in the efforts, these task forces play a critical role in searching for missing persons and carrying out numerous rescues where flash flooding persists.
The participants in these emergency efforts span various specialized teams. For instance, the Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) has sent a Type 3 Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) team, comprising 53 personnel, that specializes in water rescue, while Texas Task Force 2 (TX-TF2) deploys another Type 3 US&R team with a 46-person crew. A significant contingent of the operation includes the TX-TF1-9 Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Teams manned by 76 individuals equipped with inflatable rescue boats. To aid in this effort, the TX-TF1 is also utilizing Helicopter Search and Rescue Technicians (HSART), providing a team of nine rescue swimmers in partnership with the Texas Military Department (TMD) and US Coast Guard (USCG) aircraft. Complementing the human effort, the teams have deployed 11 search canines and 27 boats between all teams to maximize their coverage of the affected areas.
