Gunfire shattered the relative calm of Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood last night, resulting in three men being rushed to hospitals with gunshot wounds. According to WPXI, the incidents unfolded just before 10:30 PM as police responded to notifications from ShotSpotter, a gunfire detection system, indicating multiple rounds had been fired in the area.
The first victim was found on Osgood Street with a gunshot wound to the back. He was quickly transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Shortly thereafter, in an echo of the previous discovery, another man was located in the 2400 block of Lyzell Street, also suffering from a gunshot wound to the back; medics transported him to the hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
Detectives who converged on the disparate crime scenes were met with signs of the night's chaos—multiple shell casings littered the ground, and two vehicles bore the scars of stray bullets. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Police’s Violent Crime Unit is spearheading the investigation into the shootings. As of yet, there has been no indication that suspects have been identified or apprehended in connection with the violence.
