A 20-year-old man's afternoon swim at Calaveras Lake ended in tragedy this Sunday with an apparent drowning incident. According to the KTSA report, the young man, whose name has not yet been made public, was swimming near a boat dock before he disappeared beneath the water around 11 a.m. His body was not recovered until approximately 6 p.m.
This incident prompted a full-day search by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and San Antonio firefighters. The response included teams scouring the water by boat in an attempt to locate the man. By afternoon, officials had transitioned their efforts from a rescue to a recovery operation, indicating the likelihood of survival was grim. KSAT cited BCSO spokeswoman Sandra Pickell and SAFD Public Information Officer Joe Arrington confirming the shift in the operation's focus around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
