
In the early hours of July 11th, a tragic collision on Tropicana Avenue, just east of Las Vegas Boulevard, claimed the life of a pedestrian, marking the 88th traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) for the year 2025. According to LVMPD's fficial reports, the accident happened at around 2:23 a.m., when a pedestrian, whose name has yet to be released pending notification of kin, attempted to cross the avenue outside of a designated crosswalk.
The vehicle involved, a 2018 Kia Niro driven by 62-year-old Gary Super of Las Vegas, was traveling eastbound in the third lane from the left when the pedestrian stepped into its path and was hit by the car the impact subsequently propelled the pedestrian onto the road, leading to fatal injuries; the driver, who remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment as per initial assessments by the authorities.
At the collision scene, forensic evidence and video footage were collected to aid the ongoing investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section. This evidence will play an integral part in understanding the dynamics of the crash and, perhaps, in bringing a closed to the involved parties.
