In a move to show appreciation for military personnel and their families, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced a partnership with Colorado Springs Airport (COS) to provide expedited TSA PreCheck® services. Active-duty service members and their families will be granted access to PreCheck lanes, easing their travel process. The initiative is part of a larger national campaign aiming to improve the travel experience for those involved in military service.
According to TSA, the program will benefit the approximately 40,000 active-duty service members in the Colorado Springs area, the home of Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. "We are proud to support our military members as they travel through COS," said TSA Federal Security Director for Colorado, Douglas Cruz, as per TSA. On days with higher traffic, COS also plans to open a dedicated screening lane for military personnel.
Additional perks are set to accompany the enhanced TSA PreCheck access. Gold Star families, those who have lost a family member in service, will have the opportunity to enroll in TSA PreCheck without any cost. Similarly, spouses of active-duty service members can enjoy a $25 discount on the enrollment fee, while uniformed service members continue to use TSA PreCheck for free. As obtained by the TSA, Cruz highlighted the strong partnership between the TSA COS and local armed forces, expressing commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of the military families with streamlined travel procedures.
