Business owners in Tucker are facing a recurring nightmare as a string of burglaries has once again targeted their establishments. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, vandals struck at least four businesses around Main Street. Law enforcement responded to an alarm at Nicky’s Undefeated restaurant at approximately 5:22 a.m. and arrived to discover shattered storefronts at several locations, including Ford’s BBQ, Village Burger, and Yes Event Space, as reported by Atlanta News First.

The pattern is becoming all too familiar for the area, as this is not the first time Tucker businesses have been hit. Just last year, break-ins were reported along the same stretch. DeKalb County has experienced a series of similar incidents affecting local commerce as well as the sense of security amongst proprietors and residents, according to a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Local business owners are expressing their frustration and disappointment. Joseph Poole, a former employee at Ford’s BBQ, learned of the break-in through social media. "I followed them and everything and saw one of the owners cleaning up the mess that the people caused, and was really disappointed to see it happened," Poole told Atlanta News First. Elsewhere, Roman Aguilar, the general manager of Enzo's Pizza on Cowan Road which was also burglarized that morning, shared his exhaustion with the situation. "So it's like it's nothing new," Aguilar said, "That's just how it is, like another day, essentially."

Small businesses are feeling the economic strain of these crimes, now further compounded by the expense of repairs. Aguilar voiced his annoyance with the extra costs, saying, "We just had to pay, I think, like 600, 700 dollars to get the door fixed." With limited funds, such unexpected outlays for damages are hitting hard. "We have to pay for stuff we shouldn’t be paying for, and we barely have the money for it. It’s tough times right now," Aguilar lamented in a statement to Atlanta News First.

DeKalb County police are investigating the break-ins and are reviewing surveillance footage gathered from the affected businesses. Justin Bradford, owner of Ford’s BBQ, stated that his establishment's break-in was captured on camera and that he has handed over the video to the authorities. He expressed relief that their secure cash handling procedures likely prevented any actual cash theft, later acknowledged by FOX 5 Atlanta. Community members with any information concerning these crimes are encouraged to contact the DeKalb County Police Department to assist in their inquiries.
