A recent vehicle collision in Santa Rosa has left both drivers hospitalized following a harrowing crash along Fountaingrove Parkway yesterday. At about 12:25 PM, multiple 911 calls were made to report what one caller described as a "Really Bad Accident" involving a red Ford sedan and a white Chevy sedan in the westbound lane near Stagecoach Rd, according to a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police Department.
First responders, including Santa Rosa Police, Fire, and Medical personnel, arrived swiftly at the scene. They discovered both vehicles with major damage and their drivers suffering from significant injuries within the twisted wrecks of their cars. Subsequently, both individuals were transported to local hospitals for emergency treatment; their conditions have been declared serious but non-life-threatening. Fountaingrove Pkwy was subsequently closed for around four hours as the Santa Rosa Police Accident Investigation Team took charge of uncovering the details that led to this unfortunate event.
Early investigations, fueled by witness accounts, reveal that the Chevrolet sedan might have been the instigator, as it reportedly accelerated at a high velocity before striking the back of the Ford, causing both cars to spin out of control and collide with trees lining the parkway. Currently, authorities are examining the possibility that the elderly driver of the Chevy mistakenly floored the accelerator instead of applying the brakes, while preliminary inquiries are also considering the role of alcohol impairment in the crash, as noted by the Santa Rosa Police's update.
The female driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries. However, her identity remains undisclosed at this juncture. The male driver of the Chevy, also with notable injuries, is under the same shield of privacy.
