On Tuesday morning, a 911 call from a Southfield resident led to a dramatic police chase resulting in the arrest of two men accused of stealing tires. CBS Detroit reports that the suspects were seen at around 3:30 a.m., removing tires from a Ford F-150 in an apartment complex parking lot and left the scene in a rented Chrysler Pacifica.

Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren expressed disdain for the crime, stating to CBS Detroit, "They're disgusted with individuals who have the audacity at three o'clock in the morning to steal parts from a car where somebody worked very hard for their property." The chase began when officers spotted the minivan and soon escalated, culminating in a collision with a police cruiser and a suspect attempting to escape by swimming across a pond.

As per ClickOnDetroit, the driver, identified as 31-year-old Trachawn McCaa, and 51-year-old Prince Madison, the other suspect found in the vehicle, have prior felony records. They were charged with larceny from a motor vehicle, while McCaa received additional charges for third-degree fleeing and eluding.

FOX 2 Detroit disclosed that Chief Barren questioned the suspects' motives during a press conference stating, "What is a 51-year-old man and a 31-year-old man doing at 3 o'clock in the morning stealing tires from cars?" Following the head-on collision, both Southfield officers involved sustained minor injuries and are expected to return to duty soon.
