Two individuals have been apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department in connection with a recent burglary in Northwest DC. The incident, which took place last Wednesday around 7 p.m., involved unauthorized entry into an apartment building on the 1700 block of 7th Street and the theft of packages. According to the MPD's press release, officers responded to the scene following the report.
The following day, third district officers on routine patrol identified one of the culprits on July 4. Ranehja Johnson, a 23-year-old from Southeast, DC, was taken into custody and faces charges of Burglary Two. While patrolling, officers located another individual who resembled the suspects on Sunday. Subsequently, this individual, identified as 31-year-old Markel Hall, also from Southeast, DC, was arrested on the same charges.
The case continues to be an open investigation by the police. The department is urging anyone with information about the burglary to come forward. The MPD is incentivizing leads with the promise of a reward; details specify that up to $1,000 could be granted for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment in this, or any other, crime across the District of Columbia.
