Two men are currently jailed in Washtenaw County after authorities connected them to a disturbing pattern of drive-by shootings in the area. According to CBS News Detroit, the suspects, a 21-year-old from Ypsilanti and a 22-year-old from Belleville, were arrested after driving by and firing upon homes across the county, a series of incidents that began June 17.

The pair were taken into custody last Sunday, following a string of nine random shootings that terrorized the community south of Ypsilanti, as reported by ClickOnDetroit. The last known incident reportedly took place just after midnight on the same day near the intersection of Talladay and Whitaker Roads. During the arrest, a semi-automatic rifle was seized along with fired bullet casings that appear to match those used in the shootings.

No injuries were reported despite multiple homes being hit, an outcome that, considering the circumstances, could easily have been different. Both suspects have purportedly admitted their involvement in these crimes, a statement from FOX 2 Detroit noted. The men now await arraignment on the charges placed against them, detained at the Washtenaw County Jail.

In addition to the arrests, Michigan State Police and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office served high-risk search warrants at residences related to the investigation. "During the last two weeks, both agencies were aided by tremendous cooperation from the community where the shootings took place," stated the Michigan State Police in a report, as mentioned by CBS News Detroit.
