In the early hours of an otherwise quiet morning in Homestead, gun violence shattered the peace. An Uber driver and their passenger were wounded by gunfire in an incident that occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. Authorities are now investigating the events that led up to the shooting.
The initial call to emergency dispatchers indicated a man had been shot in the area of West Street. According to WPXI, before first responders could assess the situation on-site, the victim had made his way to a hospital, where he was deemed in stable condition. Following this development, a second man was found with bullet wounds in Munhall, more than a mile from where the first man was shot.
Investigators pieced together that the second injured person, discovered over on the 200 block of West Miller Avenue, was also linked to the earlier-reported Homestead shooting. Both individuals, now identified as an Uber driver and a passenger, have been confirmed by CBS News Pittsburgh to have non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive their ordeals.
