Union County's Geographic Information Systems & Mapping department has rolled out a new digital mapping service, UC Atlas, upgrading from their previous GoMAPS system. UC Atlas is designed to provide a more streamlined user experience with majority of essential functions conveniently positioned on the main interface. The tool facilitates access to a wealth of information, including infrastructure details, property lines, zoning information, utilities, and other crucial community characteristics.

"UC Atlas is a more convenient and manageable way to get accurate mapping and location information than our previous system," GIS Manager Bryan McFadden said, emphasizing user-friendliness. The hope is that this resource will continue to serve the needs of residents and businesses, which have historically depended on the system. Despite, the confidence in the new system's intuitiveness, the team stands ready to assist users at [email protected], as per Union County.

Following a six-month collaboration with a developer, the GIS & Mapping team has ensured that features from the retired GoMAPS platform are not just retained but also improved. Key search functionalities are now directly accessible on the homepage of UC Atlas, geared towards simplifying user interactions when seeking out subdivision information or other data. UC Atlas is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices, allowing anyone to create maps, delve into parcel data, and conduct geographic analysis on the go.

According to the announcement from Union County, upcoming tools for the platform include self-guided training materials that will support users concerning the system's most common functions. McFadden assured the commitment to making the repository of information more readily accessible, "This is an update and refresh to our previous tool that will make information more conveniently discoverable." Union County, indeed, seems poised to cater to the mapping needs of its community with this modernized version of a familiar service.
