Authorities in Arizona have put out an urgent call for assistance in the search for a 6-year-old girl who was last seen at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The Arizona Department of Public Safety activated the state's Turquoise Alert system on Wednesday, just days after the system's launch, in an effort to quickly locate Violet Coultas, who went missing under concerning circumstances, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
The girl was last observed on airport surveillance footage on July 12 at 10:01 p.m., where she appeared with her non-custodial mother, Sarah Coultas, according to details provided by FOX 10 Phoenix. The Hawaii Police Department needs to quickly call upon the public to aid in their search, as Sarah is suspected of taking Violet in defiance of a court order. Previously, the two were last seen on July 6 in Hawaii.
Violet, who also goes by the name Violet Coultas-Benson, according to the Hawaii Police Department's statement, is a white female, 3 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 43 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a white shirt, pink jacket, a pink sweater, light-colored shorts, and white shoes when she was last seen. Sarah, her mother, is described as being 5-foot-11 with brown hair and hazel eyes, as noted by KTAR.com.
This incident marks the first instance in which the Turquoise Alert has been used in Arizona—a system specifically launched to assist in locating missing persons in urgent circumstances. Details regarding the situation are being carefully disseminated to ask the public to provide any possible information, with the hope to swiftly reunite Violet with her rightful guardians. "Sarah Coultas is alleged to have fled Hawaii with Violet in violation of a court order," a statement on the DPS website read, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
Those who might have seen Violet, or possess any information on this matter, should contact authorities immediately by calling 911. Additionally, the Hawaii Police Department can be reached at 808-935-3311 for further details or to provide any leads, as per KTAR.com.
