To ramp up connectivity in the Bay Area and cater to the community's need for more transportation options, Vine Transit is launching Saturday service for its Route 29 Napa-BART Connector beginning August 16, providing a direct link between Napa Valley and the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. This service expansion promises to simplify travel to San Francisco and the East Bay on weekends, and is being heralded as an affordable, sustainable choice for Bay Area explorers.
According to an announcement by the Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) via the Vine Transit website, "Our community has asked for more connectivity in the Bay Area, which was the impetus of the Route 29 Saturday service," said Rebecca Schenck, the Director of Transit for NVTA. The service will work as a pilot program and is set to run through June 2026, after which its performance and impact will be assessed. Danielle Schmitz, NVTA’s Executive Director, expressed excitement for the expansion, noting that it will improve "regional connectivity, helps reduce traffic congestion, and supports both tourism and residents who rely on transit."
Details of further service enhancements were shared on the Vine Transit website, where it was revealed that beginning August 10, Route 11X will offer a faster travel option between Napa and Vallejo by making limited stops. Intended to halve the current travel times, the route will see alterations, including excluding the Imola Park and Ride from its path, aiming to streamline the commuting experience for its users.
The adjustments align with the rollout of Vine Transit’s school year bus schedule, which is slated to take effect on August 10 to align with NVUSD school timings. As the Vine Transit website states, the new schedules will be available online on VineTransit.com, Google Transit, and the Transit app. For those offline, paper maps will be distributed at the Soscol Gateway Transit Center at 625 Burnell St. Should riders need additional information or assistance, they can reach out via a call to 707-251-2800.
