Wake Forest voters, mark your calendars for September 10, as the Wake Forest Chamber Government Affairs Committee is set to host a key event in the build-up to the upcoming local elections. The candidates running for the positions of mayor and the Board of Commissioners will take the stage at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for a forum that promises to be both informative and interactive. Running from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., this forum will give residents the opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to represent them. The venue is located at 405 S. Brooks St, and seats are up for grabs on a first-come basis.
According to a recent announcement by Wake Forest's official website, the mayoral candidates, Vivian Jones and Ben Clapsaddle, are prepared to participate in the discourse, alongside six hopefuls vying for two available spots on the Board of Commissioners. These candidates include Thomas Dement, Haseeb Fatmi, Pam James, Keith Shackleford, Nick Sliwinski, and Jasmine Zavala. The evening's schedule is set to feature the Mayoral forum first, to be followed by the BOC forum, providing a thorough chance to scrutinize the platforms and positions of all candidates involved.
Attendees can look forward to concluding the night with a "meet and greet" session, offering an informal setting to engage with the candidates in person. Such face-to-face interactions are invaluable for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the candidates' visions and to ask questions that might not have been addressed during the formal proceedings of the forums.
For those unable to make it in person, there's no need to worry about missing out. The event will not be aired live, but starting September 15, community members will be able to view the recorded forum through a streaming video on demand service at wakeforestnc.gov. Wake Forest residents who subscribe to Spectrum Cable TV will also have the option to watch the event on Wake Forest TV 10 (WFTV 10), set to air daily at noon and 6 p.m. right through to Election Day on November 4. Wake Forest officials remind that this is the only forum slated to be aired this year on WFTV 10.
