Local soccer enthusiasts will need to find an alternative pitch for their summer games, as Smith Creek Soccer Center Field 1 undergoes maintenance through mid-August. The closure, which affects the field located at 690 Heritage Lake Road, is the result of an upgrade slated to improve the field's condition for future use. Specifically, a new in-ground irrigation system is being installed by Huntscapes, a contractor working with the Town, as reported by the Wake Forest official news release.
In the interim, the Town has taken measures to ensure the public is aware of the ongoing work. Signs and temporary fencing now adorn the perimeter of Field 1. Residents are advised to respect these boundaries and refrain from entering the field. Infringement by the public not only disrespects the effort put into the maintenance works but could also "result in a longer closure period," according to the official statement from the Town of Wake Forest.
