Ayers Park in Between, Georgia, recently added eight new outdoor pickleball courts, which opened last Friday. These courts are in addition to the four already at the park, bringing the total to twelve. The expansion is part of Walton County's response to increased participation in the sport, according to the county's announcement.
The development of the park was completed internally through a collaboration between the Facilities, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation departments to create a cost-effective addition for the community. The opening was marked by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting attended by Walton County Board of Commissioners Chairman David Thompson, County Manager John Ward, and Between City Mayor Robert Post.
“This is a place for people to connect, compete, and stay healthy,” Chairman Thompson said during the opening ceremony. The additions at Ayers Park align with recent upgrades to indoor facilities at Criswell Park, and similar developments are reportedly planned for other locations, including Meridian Park and the future Park at the Grove, as reported by Walton County.
