In a move to address public safety concerns, Washington D.C.'s police chief has rolled out a temporary Juvenile Curfew Zone along the U Street corridor. The zone, which targets gatherings of youths that could pose a substantial risk to public safety, is based on the newly passed Juvenile Curfew Emergency Amendment Act of 2025. This was confirmed by an announcement on the Metropolitan Police Department's website.
Starting from 8:00 p.m. tonight, individuals aged 17 and under are prohibited to freely roam in groups of nine or more within the established curfew zone — unless they are involved in certain exempted activities. The curfew will last until 11:00 p.m. and is scheduled to repeat through Sunday, July 20. The boundaries of the curfew zone extend from V Street and 15th Street at the northwestern edge, to 7th Street and T Street to the southeast.

Moreover, it's important to remember that a citywide curfew is already in effect.
