A detention deputy from the Weld County Sheriff's Office, Jacob Golden, has been arrested on allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct within the confines of the Weld County Jail. According to the Weld County Sheriff's Office, the 30-year-old is facing two felony counts after being accused of having sexual relations with a female inmate while on duty between July 12 and 14.
The office quickly mobilized to start investigating upon receiving a report of the incident on July 15, made by another inmate to a different deputy. Golden, who had been working at the jail for four years and is a post-certified detentions deputy, was taken into custody before he could report for his next shift. The swift action aimed to ensure that this alleged breach of trust would be thoroughly scrutinized.
The incident, described as "unacceptable and disturbing to the conscience" by the Sheriff’s Office, occurred with a 27-year-old female inmate. It has sparked discussions about the responsibility and trust placed on correctional officers to maintain professional boundaries and uphold the integrity of our justice system.
Currently on unpaid administrative leave, Golden remains in custody with a $20,000 cash/surety bond set at his arrest. While the criminal investigation continues to unfold, an internal probe will follow to assess the entire breadth of Golden's conduct. "People expect to be able to trust law enforcement," the Sheriff’s Office emphasized, indicating their commitment to fully investigate the incident.
