Residents looking to beat the heat in St. Charles Parish will have to adjust their plans, as the West Bank Spray Park is set to close for a day this weekend. The park will be shuttered tomorrow, July 13, for maintenance work by an Entergy contractor. Families seeking relief from the summer sun can instead head over to the Ormond Spray Park in Destrehan, which will remain open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m, offering a welcome alternative for those affected by the closure.
The shutdown of the popular cooling spot coincides with planned reliability upgrades targeted to enhance power service in the area. An Entergy contractor is tasked with work along Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway, Rue La Cannes, Deputy Jeff G. Watson Drive, and Sugarland Drive. This infrastructure project will commence at 7:00 a.m. and is expected to span until 5:00 p.m tomorrow, as cited onSt. Charles Parish's official website. Notably, these upgrades necessitate de-energizing the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center alongside nearby properties, ensuring the safety of the contractor's crew as they carry out their work.
The West Bank Spray Park, a hub for family activities during the sweltering summer months, will resume normal operations following the completion of the contractor's work. With high temperatures routinely climbing, residents have come to appreciate having a dedicated public space to cool down, particularly when the oppression of the Louisiana heat intensifies.
