White Settlement's Rec Center transformed into a hub for young environmentalists this Monday, hosting an educational spectacle dubbed the Library Summer Show. Spearheaded by Maureen Barrett, known for leading the 'Keep White Settlement Beautiful' initiative, the event schooled local tykes on the intricacies of stormwater management, according to a social media announcement by the City of White Settlement.
Interactive elements, such as a detailed display elucidating stormwater processes and a trash collection activity, were designed to engage and inform. Alongside these educational segments, creativity was nurtured through an opportunity to draw 'R4 the Robot,' the mascot of the 'Keep White Settlement Beautiful' campaign. The Public Works Stormwater Crew also dropped in, making a special guest appearance to further shed light on the significance of stormwater preservation.
Adding an element of fun to the mix, every participant walked away donning a 'Stormwater Hero cape' and clutching a goodie bag filled with treasures, as detailed on the City's Facebook post. This event is not standing alone in its efforts to enlighten through entertainment; the Library Summer Shows promise to continue this educational journey next week with the Discovery Lab on Wheels.
