
A heated dispute between neighbors turned into a police standoff in Winter Park yesterday, leading to the arrest of a man wielding an ax. Anthony Jonathon Walker, 42, was taken into custody after an extended standoff with authorities, according to reports from WFTV. The incident occurred on the 200 block of Tyree Lane, where the Winter Park Police Department (WPPD) responded to a call regarding a dispute at approximately 4:55 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, police say Walker reportedly retreated into his home and refused to engage in dialogue for some time. Eventually, after trying to communicate with him over an extended period, Walker came out of his residence and was arrested without further altercation. No injuries have been reported following the incident, as reported by ClickOrlando.
Walker faces multiple charges stemming from the confrontation and subsequent standoff. Law enforcement has levied charges against Walker that include aggravated assault with a weapon, arson, criminal mischief, and resisting without violence. One of the charges specifies aggravated assault with a weapon against a victim over the age of 65, suggesting the gravity of the situation.
