The 8th annual Back-to-School Bash took place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa over the weekend. The event, hosted by WWE superstar Titus O'Neil, provided over 15,000 backpacks filled with school supplies. It also offered health services for both children and adults. The event was supported by AdventHealth, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Hillsborough County School District, according to WFLA.
This year’s community event, reported by FOX 13 News, included free medical screenings and health referrals for adults. Dr. Taylor Lowry from AdventHealth said, "It’s free, which is fantastic. You don’t have to wait in a clinic for this." Children received first-time dental checks from TeamSmile, and the Glazer Vision Foundation provided vision screenings. Kourtney Sanchez, executive director of the foundation, said, "One in four kids have a vision impairment — but one in five families can’t afford to do anything about it."
The event also offered free haircuts and food, focusing on community support beyond just distributing supplies. "It's overwhelming to be honest with you, but overwhelming with joy," O'Neil told ABC Action News. His initiative has inspired community members like William Sheppard to contribute to the well-being of their neighborhoods, creating a cycle of giving and support.
