The Baltimore County Department of Public Works (DPW) addressed the issue, first reported around 11 a.m. today, as contractors worked to manage the surge of water, which, according to CBS News Baltimore, flowed into adjacent parking lots.
The resulting flood prompted Baltimore County Police to implement detours, advising motorists to consider I-83 as an alternative route. According to WMAR-2 News, the road closure affects both directions of York Road between Shawan and Ashland Roads, with local businesses immediately feeling the impact of the infrastructure failure. One restaurant owner even had to send away patrons and staff after water services were interrupted.
Although the exact cause of the latest disruption is still being investigated, the long-standing issue is evident: an aging grid struggling to meet the demands of a growing city.
