
A tragic incident unfolded in Montgomery County on a late Tuesday night when Jaril Verde Murillo, a 17-year-old with no fixed address, was fatally shot on the 700 block of University Boulevard East. Based on a report by Montgomery County Police Department, the shooting occurred around 11:28 p.m. as Murillo and two other males were walking toward the Foxhall Apartments. The group came under fire, Murillo was struck by the bullets, and reportedly collapsed in the roadway while the assailants fled the scene.
The two males accompanying Murillo were unharmed in the incident, and though rescue personnel attempted life-saving measures upon their arrival, Murillo was pronounced dead at the site of the shooting. As it stands, the police have not released suspect information, moreover, no arrests have been made in connection to the homicide, a case marked by the Montgomery County Department of Police as ongoing and under rigorous investigation.
The circumstances that led to Murillo's death remain unclear, and detectives from the Homicide Section of the Major Crimes Division are handling the case. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed that the cause and manner of Murillo's death were homicide by gunshot wound, marking yet another young life irrevocably ended by gun violence in the community.
