The object, described as a "green dildo," struck the man and then fell near his niece as they were watching the game. The uncle later expressed his wish for prosecution. Police say that after committing the act, Lopez attempted to quickly leave the scene but was tackled by a volunteer and subsequently arrested. He now faces charges of disorderly conduct, assault, and public display of explicit sexual material. In a statement obtained by The Post, the Phoenix Police Department confirmed that the individual had been cooperative with the authorities.
Lopez reportedly expressed remorse, claiming the act was a "stupid prank that was trending on social media," as reported by The Post. As part of the league's security standards, anyone found to intentionally disrupt a game in this manner will face severe repercussions including ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and potential legal consequences. The decision to eventually prosecute Lopez is pending and will be made by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, confirmed the Phoenix Police Department, as per The Post.
