A 21-year-old has been taken into custody by Denver police in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday night in the Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The incident unfolded near 20th and Market streets, as was confirmed by Denver police at approximately 12:22 a.m. KDVR reported. Initial reports indicated three victims; however, a fourth was subsequently located by the authorities later on Sunday afternoon.
The Denver Police Department, which posted on social media shortly after the incident, updated its findings with the acquiescence of a fourth victim. One of those wounded is in a critical condition, while the other three sustained non-life-threatening injuries, as 9NEWS details. With the backdrop of Coors Field just blocks away, the arrest brings a temporary closure to the immediate uncertainty cast over the neighborhood in the aftermath of the shooting.
Denver PD has identified the apprehended suspect as Britt, but the exact charges against him are yet to be formalized; this determination will fall under the ambit of the Denver District Attorney's Office. The shooting reportedly stemmed from a verbal altercation between Britt and what is being described as the "primary victim" by police, which escalated tragically, with the remaining three victims being unintentional bystanders. This information comes in light of the ongoing investigation, according to Denver7.
