Mark your calendars, Milwaukee parents and kids! Alderman Lamont Westmoreland is hosting the annual Back to School Bash this Thursday, and you won't want to miss out. Promising a generous helping of free resources, from backpacks to school supplies, and even a smattering of food to keep the energy high, the bash is set to ease the transition from summer's languor back into academic rigor.

The 4th Annual Back to School Bash, presented by Wellpoint Care Network, aims to eliminate the financial burden often associated with the onset of a new school year; no registration is needed, just show up at 8901 W. Capitol Dr. on August 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., though do note, if the rain decides to play spoilsport, the event will shift to Friday, August 8. With a first come, first served approach for backpack distribution, families are encouraged to arrive early, children must accompany their guardians to receive a backpack as per the event guidelines on the City of Milwaukee release.

It's not just about freebies; Alderman Westmoreland emphasizes the deeper essence of the gathering stating, "Every child in Milwaukee deserves to start the school year off with confidence and support," "This event isn’t just about the supplies, it’s also about building community and making sure every student feels seen and set up for success," he aims to foster a sense of community and provide the much-needed assurance every student warrants as they embark on a year of learning and growth, as per the City of Milwaukee website.
