Five individuals were injured after a stolen car pursuit culminated in a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in one of the cars catching fire in Los Angeles' Rancho Park neighborhood. According to the FOX LA report, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the 2900 block of South Overland Avenue.
Details from the Los Angeles Fire Department indicated that the pursuit, which involved LA County sheriff's deputies following a suspect in a stolen vehicle, ended tragically when the car they were chasing struck at least two other vehicles. The collision was significant enough to quickly become inflamed, inevitably endangering more lives than those within the grasp of law enforcement's intent to apprehend. The LAFD alert described the scene, which included as many as three vehicles, with four victims suffering serious injuries who were subsequently transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The fifth individual, who incurred minor injuries, was treated at the scene, as mentioned in an NBC Los Angeles article. Authorities have not released the identities of the injured or the driver involved in the pursuit. The investigation remains ongoing.
