The Akron Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a potentially deadly incident earlier this month. In a call for information, the APD took to social media to describe the disagreement that escalated to gunfire after a dispute over a gas pump.
On July 11, at the Circle K located at 1559 E. Market St., what began as a mundane argument over a gas station resource, ended with the suspect shooting at the victim as they drove away. The shot fired struck the victim's vehicle, ricocheting with such force that it pierced the windshield and exited through the rear passenger window of an uninvolved truck navigating the roadway. As the Akron Police Department reported, the alleged suspect's vehicle has been identified as a "red 2015ish Subaru Legacy sedan."
Authorities are urging anyone with pertinent data regarding the incident to reach out. Detective D. Forney of the Akron PD is the lead on inquiries, with the public encouraged to contact him at either 330-375-2464 or 330-375-2Tip. Moreover, tips can be delivered anonymously via Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS, or by sending a text with "TIPSCO" followed by the information to 274637.
When seen by the public, they emphasized not to approach the suspect but to instead prioritize safety and immediately call 911.
