
Last week, a hit-and-run incident in Fairfield severely injured a pedestrian, but thanks to alert witnesses and responsive law enforcement, a suspect was quickly brought into custody. According to an announcement from the Fairfield, CA Police Department, the collision occurred at East Travis Boulevard and Phoenix Avenue on Tuesday at 7:20 PM.
The victim suffered a serious head injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Witnesses at the scene were able to promptly provide the police with a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle, along with the license plate number, which enabled officers to respond to the driver’s address quickly and to make an arrest without incident.
In a social media post, the Fairfield, CA Police Department identified the suspect as 21-year-old Kaleb Pelekeilisaia. The post did not specify charges, but confirmed that Pelekeilisaia was apprehended in connection with the hit-and-run.
